DOHA: The Central Municipal Council (CMC), which is in its fifth term after the last elections, is to mark the National Day today after holding its eighth weekly meeting.
A team headed by Mohammed Zabin Al Dawsari was established by Jaber Hamad Al Lakhan, Secretary General of the Council, to prepare for this event in collaboration with the department of public relations.
“It is an historic day on which we commemorate our glories, past and present achievements, and look forward to the promising future under the leadership of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” said Secretary General of the Council in a press statement yesterday.
“Our country is moving steadily towards a bright future to attain sustainable development and become one of the advanced states in the world,” Al Lakhan added.
Preparations for the National Day have been completed in a way which suits the occasion and the events will include different cultural and traditional activities, in addition to a photo exhibition, old postage stamps, coins and currencies reflecting the past of this country, said the head of the organizing committee, Mohammed Al Dusari.
Meanwhile, the CMC members are going to host today officials from the Community Police upon proposal offered by Nassir bin Ibrahim Al Mohannadi, from constituency number 25, to discuss the role of police in the community.
In addition to this, the council will discuss in the meeting, recommendations, scheduled proposals and a report of the Service and Facilities Committee on establishment of service parking on the highways.
The proposal was made earlier by a member of the council, Abdurrahman bin Abdullah Al Khulaifi, from constituency number 10.
