DOHA: Al Rayyan Park, also known as Al Busat Al Akhdar will open to the public after renovation on December 17 to coincide the Qatar National Day celebrations, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.
Ashghal said that the renovation work has been completed as originally scheduled.
Restoration of the park was carried out in coordination with Al Rayyan Municipality, and the Public Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP). The park was partially closed to facilitate construction works on Al Rayyan road adjacent to the park and for maintenance and upgrade of the park itself to include various facilities such as the fence, walkways and lighting system. A jogging track will also be introduced so that the visitors can have a wider choice of sports.
Al Rayyan park is located at the intersection of New Al Rayyan road and Al Shamal Road stretched over a vast green area. The park will have eight entrances in total, five at the north section and the remaining three at the western part. It is designed to cater to people with disabilities and comprises a special events area at the southwest corner.
