Doha: Handicraft pavilions at the Cultural Village, Katara are witnessing a remarkable turnout and attention from visitors - tourists and World Cup fans alike, keen to acquire souvenirs and heritage collectibles reflecting the beauty of Qatari heritage and the originality of Arab culture.
The Katara Handicrafts Exhibition, along Ibn Al Reeb street constitutes an open market presented by Cat Art displaying products of elite craftsmen and artists, including souvenirs inspired by the raw materials of the Qatari, Gulf and Arab environment.
The souvenir shops at the exhibition are witnessing a great turnout by visitors, as they offer many and varied options that include various products and handicrafts that embody many aspects, whether through expression of the richness of the popular heritage or the exceptional global sporting event represented by FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Salem Al Harassi, the supervisor at “Treasures of Oman,” said: “I am very happy with my participation in the activities of Katara accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The public turnout it is witnessing is great. Our place displays Omani products that reflect the Omani heritage and history, most of which are rare perfumes made from Omani frankincense. The famous, amber, oud, musk and natural oils, in addition to other exhibits such as types of sticks, which are considered a complement to the Omani and Gulf men’s clothing and are made of local Omani wood, and the Omani veil (lisu) made of silk and decorated with Arabic inscriptions and letters on the occasion of the Omani Women’s Day.”
Malak from “Millionaire Store” expressed her happiness at the turnout to see her exhibits by visitors at Katara, noting that the headscarves of various colours that reflect the participating teams are very popular with fans of the World Cup, who are keen to wear them and encourage the teams of their countries.
Meanwhile, the pavilions of the countries participating at the Katara Traditional Dhow Festival are also witnessing an unparalleled turnout from heritage lovers to see the marine heritage holdings and wonderful artifacts that express the treasures of maritime heritage, such as models and models of sailing ships and traditional dhows that were used for fishing, diving and trade trips in the past.
