Doha: The first round of the four-leg Jet Ski Drag Racing championship of Qatar Marine Sports Federation will be held on January 19 at Katara Cultural Village, the organisers of the event informed here yesterday.
The championship will be contested in three categories Runabout Stock, Runabout Super Stock, and Runabout open class.
Around 45 riders from UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait besides Qatar will take part in the opening round of the championship which will end with fourth and last round on March 2. The second and third round of the event will be held on January 26 and February 9.
Waleed Mahmoud AL Sharshani will lead Qatar’s challenge in the Runabout Stock class in which 10 competitors will vie for top honours. The other local competitors include Mohamed Jassim Al Obaidli, Bader Mahmoud AL Sharshani, Abdullah Naim Al Baker and Khamis Sbeit Al Hosni.
In the Runabout Super Stock, a record number of 21 drivers will be action, while in the Runabout open class the field will consists of 14 drivers.
