Los Angeles: Skrillex and Diplo, the Los Angeles electronic producers responsible for Justin Bieber's recent musical pivot, on Monday swept the Grammys in the dance music category.
The duo won the Grammys for Best Dance/Electronic Album for "Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack U" and Best Dance Recording for "Where Are U Now," a song that features Bieber.
The duo is slated to perform later Monday with the Canadian pop celebrity at the main Grammys ceremony.
Bieber, who in recent years has been better known for his off-stage antics than his music, last year returned to the music scene with a new tropical house sound.
"Thanks to the Academy for supporting awesome music and letting us be here," Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Pentz, said as he accepted the award.
Diplo came to prominence as a producer for M.I.A., the British-Sri Lankan artist known for her politically charged rapping that blends in reggae and other global music.
Diplo has increasingly become a go-to producer for mainstream pop stars interested in an electronic touch, including Madonna and Britney Spears.
In the album category, the duo beat out a crowd that included British electronic veterans The Chemical Brothers and British producer Jamie XX.
Bieber's latest album, "Purpose," came out too late last year for consideration at this year's Grammys.
