Doha: Interior ministers and senior security officials from several countries who attended the opening day of the Milipol Qatar 2021 highlighted the vital role of the event as a pioneer in the Middle East region, attracting many prominent international companies in the security sector.
The Minister of Interior of Ukraine Arsen Avakov praised the 13th edition of the international exhibition for homeland security and civil defense, noting that this was the second at the event. Speaking on the sideline of the Milipol Qatar 2021, Avakov said, “It was very important to be present in Milipol Qatar, to communicate with exhibitors, and to discuss with specialists in the security. We consider it a significant platform for communication in this field, meeting senior officials from various countries, and agreeing on urgent issues in security and defense.
“Ukraine is one of the leading countries in internal security and civil defence, and we have leading companies in data analysis and cybersecurity. We will discuss how these technologies can be brought to Qatar.” Also commenting on the event, Minister of the Interior of Moldova, Pavel Voicu, said that the exhibition provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations with the participating countries.
“I sought to exchange experiences with my fellow participating ministers, especially in security and crime-fighting. These elements are among the most important priorities we have in Moldova to preserve the security of our citizens.”
He noted the steps and successes achieved by Qatar in security, which is considered a pioneer. He stressed the possibility of benefiting from the experience and expressed his country’s desire to deepen cooperation with Qatar.
The Lebanese Minister of Interior, Mohamed Fahmy, stated that Milipol Qatar has become an important international exhibition specialized in internal security and civil defence, attracting the most prominent global companies in products and services that enhance countries’ capabilities in facing various security challenges.
Fahmy said the exhibition includes major international companies specialized in security, safety, and civil defence, which participate through modern innovations and highly advanced technologies to confront security challenges. He also praised Qatar’s measures to confront the spread of the COVID-19 virus, making it one of few countries that host such international exhibitions.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Internal Security of Somalia, Hassan Handabi Jamaali, said that the Milipol Qatar exhibition combines the latest innovations and modern security devices. Jamaali said the major companies working on developing these devices are constantly innovating to meet the current security challenges seen during the visit to all pavilions of the exhibition. He stressed that coordination and exchange of information and expertise between countries in security, especially counterterrorism and cybersecurity, has become imperative and necessary, needing international cooperation.
Director of Public Security of Turkey, Mehmet Aktash, praised the strength of Qatari-Turkish relations stressing that the relation between both countries is strong, deep-rooted going back decades and is becoming more entrenched daily in various fields.
“We are proud to be at the head of a large security delegation at the Milipol Qatar Exhibition, one of the most important international exhibitions in internal security and civil defence. “The Milipol Qatar exhibition is being held this year in an exceptional circumstance, but Qatar can, with its potential and capabilities, organize a successful exhibition by all standards. This event gives hope for a way out of the pandemic and carries great meaning and importance to the region and the world,” Aktash said.
He also pointed to the participation of several Turkish companies specialising in defence and internal security systems.
Director of the Tunisian National Security Brigadier General Zuhair Al Seddik said that Tunisia is participating to see the latest modern technologies in safety, security, and defence, as the exhibition constitutes a real platform that includes all modern international technologies in this field.
He said Tunisia is keen to take advantage of the security technologies offered by the participants.
