Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), represented by the Wildlife Protection Department, launched a large-scale clean-up campaign in North Umm Ebairiya, in the northern region, as part of its ongoing efforts to preserve the Qatari environment and protect wildlife.
The campaign aims to remove waste and debris from meadows and wilderness areas and ensure that visitors comply with environmental protection laws and regulations.
The initiative complements previous efforts implemented by the Ministry, which conducted 34 meadows cleaning campaigns in February 2024, covering the northern, central, and southern regions of the country.
The current campaign includes awareness-raising activities for the local community, aiming to raise environmental awareness and encourage individuals to participate in maintaining the cleanliness of wilderness areas.
The campaign will also include the removal of solid and liquid waste and ensuring the absence of any practices that harm the environment and wildlife.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change emphasised the importance of joint cooperation between government agencies and civil society in protecting the environment and calls on everyone to adhere to environmental laws and regulations to ensure the sustainability of natural resources for future generations.
