Tennis champions crowned at Aspire festival

Doha, Qatar: The tennis championship (men and women) as part of the 11th edition of the Ramadan Sports Festival 2025 at Aspire Zone has concluded, featuring three competitions: the Men’s Masters Singles, Men’s Professional Singles, and Women’s Singles.

The competitions commenced on March 3, 2025, for the men’s category and March 8, 2025, for the women’s category. The event took place at Aspire Zone during the holy month of Ramadan on the tennis courts of the Ladies Sports Hall.

Mohammed Jao claimed the Men’s Masters Singles title after defeating Yassine Harris in the final with a score of (6-0, 4-0).

In the Men’s Professional Singles category, Ahmed Al Shami won the title after overcoming Alexey Smirno in the final with a 2-0 victory (6-4, 7-5). Meanwhile, Mykhailo Roshkovski secured third place and won the bronze medal. For the Women’s Singles, Venezuelan player Zoraida Motola won the championship after defeating Poland’s Hanna Albovich in the final with a score of (6-1, 6-0). The third-place match saw Sarah Ben Aziza claim the bronze medal after defeating Jaya Haddad 9-2.

The awarding ceremony was attended by Tariq Darwish Zainal, Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel & Badminton Federation; Sultan Khalfan, Director of Local Championships at the Qatar Tennis & Squash Federation; and Hamad Youssef Al Obaidly, Executive Director of Communications and Public Relations at Aspire Zone Foundation.

Additionally, Haikal Al Akhdar Al Barawi, Head Referee, and Nesma Ikram Moharram, Referee, were honoured during the closing ceremony of the tennis championship.

In the Employee Football Tournament, which saw fierce competition among the participating teams, Los Galacticos claimed the title after a well-deserved 5-2 victory against Rahab in an exciting final match held at Aspire Zone Foundation’s stadium.

Los Galacticos reached the final after a dominant 5-0 win over Aspetar United in the semifinals, while Rahab advanced after defeating Aspire Eagles 3-0 in the same round. The awarding ceremony was attended by Khalid bin Ali Al Mawlawi, Acting General Manager of Aspetar – Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital; Ahmed Mohammed Al Hassan, Executive Director of Facilities and Events at Aspire Zone Foundation; Hamad Youssef Al Obaidly; Idris Mohammed Al Sharshani, Director of Events Management at Aspire Zone Foundation; and other representatives from the foundation
