Under the patronage of the Spanish Ambassador to Qatar, Ignacio Escobar, Atlético Madrid’s first supporters club has been officially inaugurated in Doha.
The launch ceremony took place at the Doha Exhibition Convention Center and it was attended by a large number of local and international media members, as well as members of the club and the Spanish community living in Doha. The club’s president, Simón Ponce, stated: “We hope that the supporters’ club spreads the name of Atlético Madrid around the Middle East.”
Former Atlético player Roberto Solazábal, now the president of the Atlético veterans association, sent a message of support to the club as well. The club hopes to bring together all Atlético supporters living in Qatar for games and events in the future.
