Community College of Qatar (CCQ) is ready to receive Qatari students who were studying in the universities of siege countries and forced to leave them due to blockade, said the President of CCQ, Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi.

Speaking to journalists after launching a new associate diploma programme at a press conference held at the headquarters of CCQ, Al Naimi said “We are ready to receive any student wishing to resume their diploma or bachelor’s degree.”

“This will be done by equating the number of hours and subjects studied at universities of the siege countries. The initiative aims at helping the students to alleviate their suffering by providing them with an opportunity to obtain a degree.”

The President said “accepting students will be done in compliance with the college’s policies which include the students obtaining sufficient grades and the availability of the academic programme they wish to join.”

“We have launched a new programme on logistics and supply chain operations for Qatari students, starting from fall 2017, said Al Naimi.

“The new programme is to keep pace with the state’s expansion of export and import activities with a growing number of countries around the world.”

Al Naimi added “the graduates of new programme will be able to pick jobs in logistics and supply chain as manager or assistant manager of logistic operation, supply chains, purchasing, transport, managements of warehouses and distributions at various institutes including airports, ports, industries, cargo companies, hospitals, sport facilities and other retail sectors.”

This development means that governmental institutions and private businesses will require an efficient management of these operations, something provided by the new programme.

There is also an increased demand for logistics management in the sport, and maritime transport sectors. The new programme will empower students by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the inflow of information and products as part of the supply chain of companies and government institutions.

Some of the goals of the programme will be providing students with the ability to analyse different situation to make the appropriate decision, and using technology to facilitate the processing of supplying.

This particular specialisation is in high demand in the job market by many sectors, said Al Naimi.CCQ has approached the Emiri Naval Forces that has agreed to send a number of students to enroll to new programme, said Abdallah Hazaimeh, Dean of CCQ. It is expected that around 20 students would be enrolled in phase I. CCQ also communicated with several government institutions like Hamad Interantional Airport, Hamad Port, Industries, hospitals, transport companies and sport facilities to get enrolled their employees interested in such courses, said Hazaimeh.
