DOHA: As the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Ambulance Service plans to increase the number of dispatch points across the country, a new point has been opened at Sealine Beach, a Murwab Resort, said a senior official yesterday.
The 24-hour dispatch point, with four ambulances, is part of the service model for the Ambulance Service known as “Hub and Spoke” — bringing ambulances closer to where the people are so they can get to them quicker.
The ability to get to the scene of an emergency faster has been boosted with the opening of the new sheltered dispatch point in the Sealine area on Thursday, said Abdulaziz Fadol Al salahi Al Yafei (pictured), Assistant Executive Director of Ambulance Service, while speaking to media persons.
He also said that this is a permanent dispatch point for the area and the service will cover Sealine area and also roads from Al Wakrah to the Sealine.
They have a direct line through to the National Command Center, who will ensure that the ambulance sent is the one closest to the patient in need.
“The Ambulance Service receives between 250 to 270 calls every day. That’s why we need to increase the number of ambulances and expand the services in Qatar,” said Al Yafei.
“In this area, we receive many cases, at the Sealine Medical Clinic during the camping season between October and April. There is an increased demand in the area throughout, so we had to expand our service,” he said.
Al Yafei also said that, there are 82 to 85 spokes across the country at present and it will be increased soon.
The Ambulance Service hub represents the locations where ambulance staff start and end their shifts. The spokes represent the various satellite ambulance care units that are located around the country - these include strategic locations such as adjacent to the Sealine Beach, a Murwab Resort.
