The pavilions of France and Italy embassies at the 31st Doha International Book Fair offer a wide selection of books and activities dedicated for both children and adults.
The French Embassy is also offering French courses through Institut Français du Qatar (French Institute of Qatar) to those who wish to study the language.
French Ambassador H E Jean-Baptiste Faivre said his embassy is offering French courses, cultural activities and they can likewise help individuals who want to study in France through their department.
The Institut Français du Qatar offers classes all year round for different age groups, including children and teenagers. Its French courses follow the official curriculum for languages set by the Common European Framework of Reference. The said institute will be running a reading workshop entitled, “Time of a Story,” which will reveal children’s wonderful adventures from childhood albums and will offer many playful games to let their imagination run wild. This is free of charge and pre-registration is required to participate that can be accessed through eventbrite’s website.
The reading workshop will be held today and tomorrow, from 4pm to 5pm.
Meanwhile, Italian Ambassador H E Alessandro Prunas said his embassy’s booth is dedicated entirely for children.
“One of the reasons for that is because we started a joint project with the Ministry of Culture back in October 2020 during the visit of [Italy’s Deputy Foreign Minister] Marina Sereni in Qatar,” he explained.
The Italian Embassy is likewise holding a live digital painting session by Italian artist Enrica Pizzicori everyday at 6pm. The first live digital illustration she drew yesterday is called “Sherazade,” which is a portrayal of a woman with a mosque and moon on the background.
The artist is inviting the public to join her during this activity and said: “During the book fair every evening, I’ll represent different story from the Italian and the Arabic culture.”
The 31st Doha International Book Fair will run until January 22.
For those interested to visit, a pre-registration is needed through 31.dohabookfair.qa. The fair is being held at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in West Bay, it is open from 9am to 10pm daily except for Friday, when it will open from 3pm to 10pm.
