Doha: Qatar will continue to experience cool weather as a significant drop in temperature is expected this evening, February 17, the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) said.

The decrease in temperature is due to the continuous Northwesterly winds over the country, with the cold weather condition predicted to last until the middle of next week, the QMD announced on its official Twitter handle.

The weather department added that the strong Northwesterly winds will continue with gusts exceeding 30 KT in some areas, warning of a drop in horizontal visibility to less than 3 kilometre.

"Cold weather and blowing dust at times with some clouds, the wind Northwesterly fresh - strong in speed. As a reminder continuation of warning for tomorrow inshore and offshore," said QMD.

Qatar Meteorology urged all citizens and residents in the country to take extra precautions and to follow the latest weather updates through its official accounts.
