Doha, Qatar: Qatar Foundation is offering local talents, artists, and creators the opportunity to showcase their abilities on a regional stage at Al Ghorrah for Literature and Arts.

Taking place from November 28 to December 2 across Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Education City, Al Ghorrah will act as a hub for cultural interactions, celebrating the heritage and arts of Arab Islamic civilizations.

The deadline for submissions from those who want to be part of Al Ghorrah is November 5, and participation is free. Interested applicants can visit https://educationcity.qa/al-ghorrah/call-to-artists for more information, and more details about what the event has to offer to the community will be unveiled soon.

“Al Ghorrah is a dynamic platform that celebrates the rich heritage of Arab-Islamic civilizations through diverse art forms and cultural expressions,” said Hend M. Al Thawadi, Engagement & Activation Lead, QF. “Our mission is to not only promote this heritage regionally and globally, but to foster a deep sense of unity and belonging across diverse communities.

“As a space for meaningful cultural exchange, Al Ghorrah supports grassroots artists by providing opportunities to showcase their talents in an environment that values and appreciates both the arts and literature. We are especially committed to nurturing this within schools in Qatar and across the region, ensuring the next generation is connected to their culture and literary heritage.

“Al Ghorrah is designed to be educational and entertaining, allowing people to explore history, reconnect with their roots, and enjoy a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. We invite artists from various disciplines to share the beauty of expression through their chosen medium. With immersive experiences that engage the audience, we offer a unique space for artists and visitors to connect and participate.”

Al Ghorrah will feature a diverse range of performances in both Arabic and English, either as solo acts or part of larger groups.

Submissions from artists and creators who would like to be part of Al Ghorrah should range from five minutes to an hour and can include theatrical performances – drama, comedy, stand-up, or improvisation – instrumental or vocal musical acts, poetry readings, puppetry, and magic shows, among other creative showcases.

As part of Al Ghorrah, QF is also hosting a competition for local elementary and middle schools, inviting students to act out 15-25-minute-long performances. Schools will audition in front of a panel of judges, with the top four selected to perform at Al Ghorrah.
