Cabinet welcomes anti-terror alliance

DOHA: The State Cabinet yesterday welcomed the formation of an Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism under the leadership of Saudi Arabia.
The alliance consists of 24 Islamic countries, including Qatar. The Cabinet described the move as a significant step towards fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations whatever their sources and justifications. The Cabinet held its meeting at the Emiri Diwan. It was chaired by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud welcomed the outcome of the 36th session of the GCC Supreme Council held in Riyadh on December 9 and 10 in which Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani took part. The Cabinet confirmed that the Riyadh Declaration and decisions in its final communique for the support of the joint GCC action in various fields.

The Cabinet said the Declaration enhances the Gulf Cooperation Council drive and opens the door for it new prospects for further cooperation, solidarity and integration for the realisation of GCC peoples’ aspirations and the confirmation of the joint keenness on the security, stability and prosperity of the region. 
The Cabinet reviewed the Paris climate deal adopted by representatives of 195 states at the close of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) that was held in the French capital from November 30 to December 12 and in whose opening session Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani took part.
 The Cabinet considered that the agreement helps materialise the will of states to confront global warming and the protection of the earth from climate change.
