The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) hosted a workshop on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) as part of a study commissioned by Unesco Gulf States and Yemen Office in Doha, in collaboration with Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
Unesco Doha Director and Unesco Representative in the Arab States of the Gulf and Yemen, Anna Paolini said: “Unesco, during the past years have already contributed to strengthen the regional dialogue and exchange around MIL in the region. Unesco is now pleased to engage with the Ministry of Education in Qatar in a discussion on how to scale up and mainstream MIL teaching in the school system in Qatar. MIL is essential to expose students to critical thinking and provide them with the tools to understand news and information, and make informed decisions and opinions around them.”
