Dust band approaching Qatar, could lower visiblity

Cold weather, strong wind expected tonight

Doha: Latest satellite image shows a thick dust band moving from northern gulf with the northerly winds. It's expected to affect Qatar in few hours.

This was disclosed by the Meteorology Department on their social media platforms.

They later tweeted that “Latest observations show dust has reached Bahrain. It's expected to reach northern #Qatar next hour causing visibility to drop below 3km.”

Those who are driving should take special care as visibility could be affected due to the dust.

 

Weather inshore tonight until 6.00 am on Sunday will see slightly dusty to dusty at places at times and very cold by night, while offshore it will be slightly dusty to dusty at times with some clouds, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.

The Meteorology Department Warns of strong wind and poor horizontal visibility at places inshore and strong wind and high sea offshore.

Wind inshore will be northwesterly at a speed 10 to 22 knot reaching 25 knot at places at times. Offshore, it will be northwesterly at a speed of 20 to 30 knot reaching 35 knot at places at times.

Visibility will be 4-8 kilometer decreasing 3 kilometer or less at places at times. Sea state inshore will be 2-4 feet rising 5 feet at places at times, offshore it will be 7-11 feat reaching 14 feet at places at times.
