Doha: Qatari driver Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah won on Saturday the 44th edition of the Qatar International Rally 2023, the second round of the 43rd Middle East Rally Championship, which took place over three days and with distinguished participation.
Al Attiyah secured his fourth consecutive Qatar Rally title after 2019, 2021 and 2022, knowing that the 2020 edition was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, he won the 2004 edition but the rally was not included in the Middle East Rally Championship.
The Qatari champion captured his 17th Qatar Rally title, raising the number of his victories to 83 out of 225 rounds in the Middle East Championship, thus enhancing his chances towards his 19th title in the Middle East Championship.
In a Volkswagen Polo GTI, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel of France came in first place with a time of 1hr 44min 07.4sec.
In a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, Mads Ostberg of Norway and Patrik Barth of Sweden finished in second place with a time of 1hr 44min 19.6sec.
Riding a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, Norway's Andreas Mikkelsen and Torstein Eriksen came in third place with a time of 1hr 45min 44.9sec.
