MoI signs deals worth QR390.6m at Milipol Qatar

Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) signed deals worth QR390.6m at the just concluded 13th edition of the international exhibition for homeland security and civil defense (Milipol Qatar 2021) at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).

Over 6,000 people visited the event. Organisers also revealed that the 14th edition of Milipol Qatar would be held from May 24 to 26, 2022, in Doha.

This information was announced yesterday by the Milipol Qatar Organising Committee in a press conference at the DECC. 

The press conference was attended by Maj. Gen Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani, Chairman of Milipol Qatar Organising Committee, Brig. Saud Al Shafi, member of Milipol Qatar Committee, and Marie Lagrenee, Milipol Events Director.

“The total number of visitors reached 6,600, and 235 media representatives covered the three-day exhibition, in which the total value of the deals signed by the Ministry of Interior was QR390.6m,” said Milipol Qatar (2021) Chairman.  

Speaking at the closing press conference, he noted that “the event was attended by several ministers, deputy ministers, police chiefs, undersecretaries, leaders of the gendarmerie and representatives of ministries from friendly countries, in addition to their Excellencies the local ministers.” 

The event provided an opportunity for the participants to share their experience in security and civil defence. As many as 71 companies from 17 countries and 72 exhibitors from Qatar participated in it. 

“54% of the exhibitors were first-time participants, despite the pandemic. This was a great achievement for us that we were able to organize this exhibition under the current circumstances,” Maj. Gen. Nasser said.

Milipol Qatar 2021 featured five International Pavilions from Brazil, France, the UK, the USA, and Germany, he said, along with the participation of several individual companies worldwide.

For her part, Marie Lagrenée, Milipol Events Director, said that this event is one of the first where the homeland security and civil defence industries’ key players could meet face-to-face. It was held amid strict health and safety protocols to contain any likelihood of spreading the COVID-19 virus.

She also expressed her pleasure for the organizing committee’s achievement in conducting a successful edition of the Milipol Qatar in this very challenging time.
