New York: Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations H E Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani met Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo H E Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, the relations between the two countries were reviewed, as well as ways to enhance cooperation in areas of common interest, particularly in the context of supporting efforts for peace and stability in the African continent.
Sheikha Alya also met Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region Huang Xia, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Special Envoy expressed his appreciation for the active role played by Qatar in supporting UN initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
Her Excellency reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting UN efforts aimed at achieving peace and promoting sustainable development in the region.
Sheikha Alya also met the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya and head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, at the Permanent Mission’s headquarters in New York. The meeting reviewed the latest developments in Libya and reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between Qatar and the UN in support of the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people for peace and stability.
