The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ celebrated Qatar National Day (QND) under the slogan “Qatar will remain free” in the Ashghal village yesterday.

Dr Eng Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, President of the Public Works Authority, participated in the celebration events along with the directors, managers and staff of Ashghal.

On this occasion, Ashghal President extended warmest congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the government and the people of Qatar.

Al Muhannadi pointed out that the strong slogan of this year’s QND celebration, ‘Qatar will remain free’ is a reality we feel in our everyday life. The slogan also shows that we also adhere to a free and promising future for Qatar, stressing that Qatar is strong and unified behind the wise leadership of the country, capable of building a nation with strong willpower to confront all challenges and hurdles.

Ashghal’s QND celebration events were held in the specially set-up traditional village that mirrored the classical lifestyle of the people of Qatar. The traditional art exhibits included a photo gallery, classical photographer, craftworks, Ashghal’s mobile lab and enjoyable traditional cuisine.

A catching show in the village was of the young engineer who provided opportunity before children to feel the works of Ashghal with a team comprising a project manager, project engineer and labourers, followed by a design phase for sketching the plan of a home, hospital, school or a new street etc — all of which Ashghal works. This show opened opportunity before the young students to work with Ashghal engineers, to expand their knowledge about the engineering tasks and to boost their desire to choose engineering as their future career path.

As part of QND events, Ashghal also brought guests of the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) with participation of older people cheering their past memories and the visitors of Ashghal village warmly welcomed them.

Ashghal’s QND events also included thrilling show of Al-Muradah dance by the students of Juwairiyah Bint Al Harith School, reviving the Qatari heritage and bridging communication between the new generations and their indigenous culture.

Ashghal has chosen the heritage village to celebrate QND as an expression of pride in the heritage of the land and the history of its people.

The QND celebration event aimed at restoring and strengthening loyalty to the wise leadership of this nation, to emphasize national unity and solidarity, to stand along our leadership and to support all development plans, programmes and initiatives aimed at accomplishing the national vision of Qatar 2030.

The importance of QND celebration also implies remembrance of the sacrifices of our ancestors for the renaissance of this noble land and strengthening of concepts of advancement and progress, because, Qatar deserves the best.
