Doha: Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has announced its participation as a platinum sponsor of the fourth Annual Qatar Transport Forum, which aims to focus on the sharp increase in transport project activity in Qatar over the next few years.
The event from September 14 to 16 at Sheraton Hotel in Doha will be held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and in the presence of Transport Minister
H E Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti.
It aims to bring Qatar’s investment opportunities and projects to the forefront. It will draw participants’ attention to initiatives and projects such as Hamad Port, Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Ports, Karwa, Civil Aviation College and Qatar Rail.
The one-of-a-kind event will be hosted by the Transport Ministry and participants will meet peers, delegates and c-suite decisionmakers.

A session on ‘Rail and Metro projects’ will be dedicated to Qatar Rail. Topics include achievements in Qatar’s mega rail network, including long distance passenger rail, freight transport, metro systems and LRT; Qatar’s section of the proposed GCC rail network and opportunities for contractors.
A panel of Qatar Rail and experts in the railway industry will discuss ‘Challenges and difficulties faced in rail and metro projects in Qatar and how to overcome them’.
It will cover sustainable development as an economic growth factor for rail and metro systems in Qatar and effective participation of the private sector in further developing and supporting rail and metro projects in the country.
Qatar Rail is overseeing construction of multi-billion-dollar state-of-the-art integrated rail network. It is responsible for design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the rail network and systems.
