DOHA: Qatar Exchange’s main index gained 63.53 points or 0.75 percent last week to close at 8,542.14 points. Trading value last week increased by 11.98 percent to reach QR1.06bn compared to QR953m the previous week.
Trading volume decreased by 2.36 percent to reach 26,129,228 shares, as against 26,761,961 shares, while the number of transactions fell by 7.25 percent to reach 14,714 last week compared to 15,864 transactions.
QE’s market capitalisation rose by 0.46 percent to reach QR468.23bn last week compared to QR466.07bn the previous week.
The industrial sector led trading value last week accounting for 36.76 percent of the total, followed by the banking and financial services sector (33.16 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (13.06 percent) and the real estate sector.
The banking and financial services sector led trading volume last week accounting for 37.88 percent of the total followed by the industrials sector (21.45 percent), the real estate sector (14.88 percent) and the consumer goods and services sector.
In terms of number of transactions by sector, the banking and financial services sector led the trading number accounting for 31.49 percent of the total followed by the industrial sector (29.98 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (16.26 percent) and the real estate sector (10.5 percent).
Of the 42 listed companies, 16 ended higher last week, while 24 fell and two remained unchanged.
Industries Qatar led trading value last week accounting for 25.84 percent of the total followed by QNB (9.09 percent) and Masraf Al Rayan (6.77 percent).
For the day, the bourse was marginally up. It added 6.01 points or 0.07 percent to advance to 8,542.14 points from 8,536.13 on Wednesday. Industries Qatar was up 0.88 percent to QR149.50, Commercial Bank of Qatar rose 0.55 percent to QR72.90; Doha Insurance gained 0.78 percent to QR32.25 and Doha Bank was up by 0.92 percent to QR55.10.
The banking and financial sector index was down 1.53 points, the consumer goods and services sector index dropped 4.25 points, the industrial sector rose 12.03 points while the insurance sector added 1.84 points. The Peninsula
