Doha, Qatar: The Japan Pavilion at the Expo 2023 Doha is showcasing traditional Japanese flower arrangement commonly known as “Ikebana” at its indoor dome.
Located just beside the outdoor exhibit of the pavilion, it offers visitors a glimpse into the richness of Japanese culture and lifestyle.
Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art form that evokes emotion through the meticulous arrangement of flowers, leaves, branches, and occasionally non-plant materials in a vase.
Ambassador of Japan to Qatar, H E Sitoshi Maeda stressed the dynamic nature of the exhibition, with flowers changing two or three times a month. This ensures that each visit to the Japanese pavilion brings a fresh experience, allowing visitors to appreciate the versatility of the exhibits, he said.
“The flowers will be changed two or three times each month, so visitors will be able to discover something new with every visit to the Japanese pavilion, and I’m certain that many people will enjoy the versatile exhibits at the beautiful Japanese pavilion,” the envoy told The Peninsula. The indoor exhibit theme was “Japanese Planting,” immersing attendees in the serenity of traditional Japanese gardens and the cultural nuances they embody.
The showcase featured a diverse selection of plants, providing insight into Japan’s distinctive philosophy and heritage.
The Japanese pavilion is located at the International Zone of the Expo. It opens everyday from Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 10pm, while on Friday, from 1pm to 10pm.
Expo 2023 Doha, spanning 179 days, offers a diverse range of events and activities. From conferences and cultural exhibitions to educational initiatives and sports events, visitors can partake in workshops, engage in discussions with experts, and enjoy performances, ensuring a rich and immersive experience at the Expo.
