San Jose: Ambassador of Qatar to Costa Rica H E Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Dosari highlighted the evolving relations between Qatar and Costa Rica since Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s visit to San Jose in 2010.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Ambassador said the relations between Qatar and Costa Rica have been growing and developing since H H the Father Amir’s visit to Costa Rica on Jan. 26, 2010, and his meeting with former President Dr. Oscar Arias, which forged bilateral ties and cooperation in all international forums. In the wake of the visit, the Embassy of Costa Rica opened in Doha in 2010, followed by opening the Embassy of Qatar in San Jose in 2011.

On Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to Costa Rica, the Ambassador said the Amir’s visit would be the second by an Arab or Gulf leader, following that of the Father Amir.

He noted that the visit comes at the invitation of President of Costa Rica H E Rodrigo Chaves Robles, and will focus on elevating the bilateral relations to the level that both countries’ leaderships aspire to.

The visit will also address regional and international issues of joint interest, and give impetus to the bilateral relations across all spheres, mainly in investment, economy and trade, he added.

On the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, he explained that the ACE Award is held in a different country each year. Uzbekistan hosted the Award last year, and it was previously hosted by Qatar.

The ACE Award is international and is supported by the United Nations. Costa Rica was selected by the Award Board of Trustees based on the United Nations anti-corruption indicators, the Ambassador indicated.
