Darb Al Saai, one of the major attractions of Qatar National Day 2017 celebrations, has given many the opportunity to celebrate as well as learn about achievements of the country.
The venue saw increased number of visitors even during the morning due to long weekend. Several visitors and vendors at Darb Al Saai, told The Peninsula, that different tents installed by the entities and diverse activities were reflection of growth and pride of the country.
“This is the time for us to celebrate our achievements and look for the future development. Every tent and event here is showcasing our accomplishments, traditions and culture,” said Maha, a Qatari youth running her home grown business.
“The number of visitors has increased much due to the long holidays, many came even during the morning. It has made a good impact on our business,” she added.
The Ministry of Defence, Qatar Foundation, Different entities of the Ministry of Interior such as the Civil Defence, Traffic department, Ministry of Municipality and Environment are showcasing their major initiatives as well as hosting several awareness and interactive activities.

“It not just an exhibition but also gives a chance especially for children to learn and get involved in activities. Some encourage them to be patriotic as and others to learn about traditions and culture of the country,” said Ajwa, a Qatari mother having tow children.
The Souq Waqif area of Darb Al Saai host vendors selling the products by local enterprises of Qatari entrepreneurs. As being the centre of celebrations, National Day related clothes, badges, flags and other items are also on high demand.
“We are participating at Darb Al Saai for the sixth consecutive year and have seen an increase in business this year. Our products are unique and they are made by children with disabilities. We have souvenirs, shirts, badges and other products related to the National Day and other products like ooud as well,” said Hussain Al Haaad, head Of Community and Public Relations at the Al Noor Institute.
“We are proud of our nation and we are supporting the leadership in all possible ways in the present situation and always,” he added.
Replica of a traditional coastal environment, ‘Fareej’ a tent hosting traditional cultural activities, such as poetry reciting and dance, storytelling sessions about lifestyle in the desert during ancient times are also major attractions for visitors at Darb Al Saai.
