Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has officially announced the commencement of the Amir Cup Basketball Tournament for the 2024-2025 season, set to begin on the evening of April 21. This championship will feature the first group stage matches involving nine clubs.

As the final event of the sports season, the Amir Cup is regarded as the most prestigious and eagerly awaited local tournament among basketball enthusiasts. The draw for the tournament took place at the Federation's headquarters, attended by representatives from the clubs, various Federation members, and members of the media. The draw resulted in the teams being organized into two groups based on a technical classification system.

Group A: Al Arabi, Al Sadd, Al Ahli, Al Gharafa and Qatar SC.
Group B: Al Rayyan, Al Khor, Al Wakrah and Al Shamal.

The opening day will feature two games: Al Ahli will face Al Gharafa at 5:00 PM, followed by a game between Al Sadd and Qatar SC at 7:00 PM, both taking place at the Al Gharafa Arena as part of Group A.

The group stage will follow a single-round league format, with the top team advancing directly to the semi-finals. The teams finishing in second and third place will compete in a knockout match to determine who will join the semi-finalists.

The semi-finals will adopt a best-of-three format, culminating in the final, which is scheduled to take place at the Al Gharafa Club Hall on Thursday, May 22. Games will be held at both the Qatar Basketball Federation Hall and the Al Gharafa Club Hall.

The Qatar Basketball Federation encourages fans and supporters to engage with the tournament and cheer for their teams, wishing all participants the best of luck.
