Bird Hunting Competition starts at Katara

DOHA For the first time in GCC Countries, Cultural Village Foundation-Katara is organising the activities of al Habal Competition, starting Wednesday. During the event, a series of lectures and workshops by Mohammad Ali al Matawah on the types of birds and the steps to make traps will be held on October 21 and  22.

 Bird hunting organising committee announced that the competition of al Habal will be held on next Friday and Saturday.  The competitions will be held in the designated times  and 48 contesters will be transported from Katara to competition location that affiliated to Hasad Qatar.  Bird hunting competition will comprise 12 teams aged between 10 -15, and each team has a bird hunter, assistant bird-hunter, and two chanters with in 1.5 – 2 hours.

 It is noteworthy that al Habal competition, comes part of Katara’s strategy in supporting the Qatars heritage and culture and passing on to new generations. It is one of the most loved competitions for youth in the Gulf region where birds were hunted by using handmade traps made from tree branches.
