Volleyball team finishes second in GCC Games

DOHA:  Qatar volleyball team won the silver medal at the 2nd edition of the GCC Games, following their 3-1 victory over hosts Saudi Arabia in Dammam city on Sunday
Qatar   came up with impressive performance to defeat hosts Saudi Arabia (25-19), (25-21), 23-25) and (25-21), meanwhile Bahrain team retained the title, after defeating Oman 3-1.
The Games are constested by five GCC nations after the withdrawal of Kuwait to include Qatar, hosts KSA, Bahrain, Oman and UAE.
Meanwhile, the first level of volleyball Coaching Course for coaches and physical education teachers got underway at the Qatar Primary School for girls in Doha on Sunday.
The prestigious course is organised by the Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) in collaboration with the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA).
The four day course is bringing together 75 trainees including physical education teachers and coaches of grassroots and juniors teams in order to receive theoretical and practical training sessions on main volleyball skills.
Dr Ali Al Bakeri, Assistant Dean for Academic and Students Affairs at the Academy and Dr Ayman Al Kiki, Head of Training department at the QOA attended the course opening session. Dr Al Bekri addressed the trainees and urged them to benefit from the course topics in effort to receive the FIVB International Coaching Certificate.
In the opening session on Sunday, Senior coaches and experts from the International Volleyball Association (FIVB) introduced vital topics on the game including coaching, philosophy of the game and methods of improving skills of talented students.
