DOHA: Top Qatari riders Nasser Al Malki and Saeed Al Sulaiti are confirmed entries for the Spanish Championship (CEV) next year.

This was confirmed by Qatar Motor and Motorcycling Federation (QMMF) who entered the two riders for this year’s championship that ended last week.

“Both riders have learnt a lot from their first races until now and they are looking forward to continuing  it the next year,” QMMF said in a statement yesterday.

“All the team is now way home with many goals achieved. Next year, hopefully the opportunities will come again for the QMMF riders to grow further,” the statement added.

Al Malki said: “The year has been really good, the team and my mechanics have done a fantastic job. We have learnt a lot and hopefully we will continue to improve next year also.”

Al Sulaiti said: “I am very proud of my team, the QMMF. I am also proud of myself. They have helped me a lot all this year and I hope to be here the next year also. I want to thank QMMF president (Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah) for giving me this opportunity. The Spanish Championship is tough and a very good learning experience. I want to thank Anthony (West) also. He helped me a lot.”

Al Malki, said: “The track was wet in the warm up and I just only rode to check the bike. Yesterday I was thinking too much about what to do today, but I couldn’t do everything I had planned. At the race start, I wanted to pass some riders but it was difficult because the track were wet in some parts.”

The Qatari added: “I tried it and I passed riders in the first corner. After that, I tried to follow riders faster than me, but it was hard to follow them. My experience is not enough to take big risks and I don’t want to have a crash.”

Al Sulaiti said: “The warm up was my first time in wet conditions. I felt quite fast, faster than others riders, but it didn’t matter because the race was held in almost dry conditions.”

Al Sulaiti added: “In the race, I started quite good.  I overtook four riders at the first corner from the outside and then I have had some problems with the traffic. I was following riders those who brake to early and that cost me valuable time.”
