Young school students perform during Katara’s National Day festivities.
Doha: A large number of visitors at Katara Cultural Village yesterday enjoyed the plethora of activities on the final day of Katara’s nine-day National Day festivities.
Thousands of people had visited Katara to celebrate this auspicious national occasion and enjoyed the array of festivities there with a new activity every day.
H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani, Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President also participated in the activities of Katara at the National Day by leading the flag parade at the Katara esplanade.
The drone show was conducted yesterday including more than 300 different drones which glowed in the skies above Katara forming different symbols related to Qatar.
Folk dance bands were also present at the festival performing before the audience such as the Russian band and Asian band.
A very special and unique event during the Katara National Day festivities was the operetta “All united Hand in Hand”, which reflected the spirit of solidarity between citizens and expatriates living in Qatar. The operetta witnessed great success and was performed on two different days with more audience each time.
The military music festival was carried out, where several countries participated such as Jordan, Turkey and Italy in addition to the Amiri guard cavalry. The spectacular military show drew the attention of many who enjoyed the different military orchestras and bands in addition to a silent military show using guns.
Besides, many art workshops were organised for children to draw the best artwork depicting Qatari symbols which enhanced patriotic spirit among them and boosted their artistic and cultural knowledge.
Medical institutions also contributed by giving health awareness information and free medical check-ups for visitors.
Members of the Qatari Armed forces and some of their machinery with some high ranking officers thronged the Katara esplanade to join in the celebrations with the visitors of Katara, displaying their skills and some of their vintage machineries before the visitors in a spirit of patriotism and pride.
During the National Day, Katara inaugurated one of its major projects, The Al Thuraya Planetarium, a first in the country.
