Ooredoo backs Qatar Total Open for fourth year

Doha: Ooredoo has been named the official sponsor of the 2016 Qatar Total Open, as the company continues to promote world-class tennis in Qatar. 
This is the fourth year running the company has supported the event. 
The event, which begins today and was launched in 2001, is an annual women’s tournament that attracts top players from around the world to compete for the title and $731,000 cash prize.
Nasser Al Khelaifi, President. QTF, and Higher Organising Committee Chairman, said: “The event is an ideal way to showcase the sport in Qatar. QTF is pleased to continue its relationship with Ooredoo and the latter’s support is of great value to the tournament.” 
Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, COO, Ooredoo, said: “From our annual marathon to National Sport Day activities and more, we believe in encouraging as many people as possible to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Tennis is fast becoming one of the most popular sports in Qatar, with competitions like Qatar Total Open and ExxonMobile Open appealing to the local and expat population. 
The 2016 Qatar Total Open aims to be the biggest competition yet, featuring players, including world No. 2 Angelique Kerber. This will be the 14th edition of the event, and will take place at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from today until February 27. 
Ooredoo will provide telecommunication infrastructure at the venue to ensure media companies from around the world can seamlessly report on the event, and visitors can enjoy access to 4G+ services on Ooredoo’s Supernet network.
