Evaluation scheme for schools begins

The Education Institution at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday launched the annual follow-up and assessment scheme intended to measure the performances of schools and students.
The performance evaluation scheme being conducted at national level, will cover all Independent schools, community schools, private and international schools. The scheme seeks to improve the quality of education and its outputs and students achievements, according to senior official from the ministry.
The aim of the Comprehensive Educational Poll (CEP) is to collect data about the education process to draw sound map about the education system and its outputs.
The first stage of the (CEP) will cover all government and private schools, kindergartens, directors, school/KGs specification files, said Omar Abdulaziz Al Naama, Director of School Evaluation Centre, at the Ministry.  The first stage will include principals of school/kindergartens to collect information about the schools/KGs, teachers, employees, activities, services and professional development efforts being carried by the school/KGs, said Al Naama.
Financial resources of the schools/KGs and other facilities will also be examined during the poll in order to create updated data-base, Al Naama stressed.  The second phase of the CEP starting from mid February next year, will cover students, parents and teachers.
The director of school evaluation center, urged all schools/KGs to take part in the poll and provide with accurate and objective information. Al Naama said the outcome of the CEP will help in producing analytical reports about school performances and the data will be used in educational researches and updating the data-base of all schools/KGs in the country.
The outcome will also help in exploring points of weaknesses and strengths from parents' point of view taking their levels of satisfaction as indicator to assess outdoor activities, school/KGs communication with parents and their participation and interaction with school activities and events.
As well to find out some indicators related to students which measure their satisfaction about the school, home work, students nationalities, and teaching methodology.  According to a previous statement, the Ministry said a number of departments are going to take part in this assessment project.
