DOHA: Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has opened a new facility in Dafna to serve needy citizens and expatriates.
The facility was inaugurated by Sheikh Abdullah bin Thani Al Thani, Deputy Chairman, RAF.
It includes a social services unit, a unit to collect and distribute surplus food, and a centre for training people in humanitarian and charity works, among others.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Jassem Al Thani, from RAF, Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and General Director, RAF, and Dr Mohammad Salah Ibrahim, CEO, RAF.
The facility will study cases and make field surveys before providing support to the deserved, said Al Qahtani.
Surplus food will be collected from hotels and food companies and distributed to poor workers and families, after repackaging.
The facility will also have a rehabilitation centre known as ‘New Life’ for drugs addicts.
It also has a unit called ‘Ambassadors of Mercy’ (Sufra Al Rahma) to solicit donors, social activists and experts having footprints in charity works.
