Doha: The Nomas Center of the Ministry of Culture and Sports yesterday held a Qatari heritage day for the Belgian community aimed at raising awareness on Qatari culture and tradition. The meeting was attended by Ahmed Jassim Al Kuwari Deputy Director of Nomas Center and Lieve Declauwe Belgian Consul at Qatar and Swiss Consul.
Among the prominent Qatari traditions which were explained at the event were Arabic coffee making and horse and camel riding.
“The aim of organising Qatari heritage day is to inform expatriate communities about Qatari heritage and tradition, and to open communication with all communities”, said Al Kuwari. "The center is keen to held such activities for all communities. We will also hold activities for other communities in the next months, which will be include a number of competitions on Qatari heritage for children and adults," he added.
While the centre mainly aims at showcasing Qatari heritage, it also holds courses in swimming, horse riding, and shooting.
