QE trading value rises by 12.76pc

Doha: Qatar Exchange’s main index dropped by 58.28 points (0.66 percent) last week when the bourse closed yesterday at 8,734.56 points.

The trading value increased by 12.76 percent to reach QR1.477bn last week compared to QR1.31bn the previous week. Trading volume increased by 44.08 percent to reach 37,559,120 shares as against 26,068,551 shares, while the number of transactions rose by 19.72 percent, to reach 17,448 as compared to 14,574 transactions the previous week.

The market capitalisation fell by 0.67 percent to reach QR473.59bn as compared to QR476.77bn at the end of previous week.

The banking and the financial services sector led trading value last week with 41.19 percent  of the total, followed by the industrial sector (23.72 percent), the real estate sector (11.75 percent) and the transportation sector (9.38 percent).

The banking and the financial services sector led traded volume last week with 34.59 percent of the total, followed by the real estate sector (24.02 percent), the transportation sector (18.27 percent)  and the industrial sector (12.20 percent).

The banking and financial services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 35.85 percent of the total , followed by the industrial sector (21.17 percent), the real estate sector (13.70 percent) and the transportation sector (12.15 percent).

Of the 42 companies listed,19 ended higher last week while 20 fell and three remained unchanged. Industries Qatar led trading value last week with 13.84 percent of the total , followed by Doha Bank (9.24 percent) and Commercialbank (9.05 percent).

Yesterday, Qatar Exchange was down 66.75 points or 0.76 percent to 8,734.56 points from the previous closing of 8,801.31 points. Among the top losers were Industries Qatar whose share dropped 0.53 percent to QR169, Commercialbank lost 0.26 percent to QR76.30, Qatar Islamic Bank fell 1.30 percent to QR76 and Barwa was down 1.11 percent to QR26.70.

The banking and financial sector lost 0.18 points, the insurance sector fell 1.11 points, the industrial sector dropped 0.58 points and the services sector gained 0.06 points.
