"Squid Game" season 2 release officially announced

One of the grand successful South Korean TV series will return for a second season, according to a Netflix announcement made on 11th of June.

Hwang Dong-hyuk the creator of squid games revealed that season two was set to film in 2023 and will be released on Netflix in 2024. 

As reported by CNN, Netflix has declared that "Squid Game" has become the biggest series ever launched on their platform. In a letter, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the show, mentioned that it took 12 years to bring the first season of "Squid Game" to life, but astonishingly, it took only 12 days for it to become the most popular series of all time.

Netflix also revealed that this show was the first ever Korean series to reach No 1 in the United States, captivating 1.65 billion hours of viewership in just 28 days following its release.

Hwang expressed that he had no other choice but to make season 2 after all the love, demand and attention he gained through season 1. 

The second season awaits for its audience with its newcomers, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-honn and Yang Dong-geun. And also sees the return of actors Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun and Gong Yoo.
