Falcon conference planned in Jan

DOHA: The Qatar Society of Al-Gannas (QSG) has announced it will be hosting the second edition of the Qatar International Conference on Veterinary Falconry in January next year.
The conference will be held on the sidelines of the seventh Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival, said QSG Vice Chairman Mohammad bin Abdulatif Al Misnad.
The conference will focus on the types of falcon diseases prevailing in GCC countries and finding medical solution for them. Stressing Al Gannas’ desire to contribute to the promotion of veterinary culture around the world, he extended invitation to all specialised centres and interested individuals and institutions in to attend the conference.
Al Misnad was speaking on the sidelines of QSG’s participation at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2015 (ADIHEX 2015) which was held from September 9 to 12. The exhibition was organised to enhance the tradition of falconry in the GCC.
Al Gannas participated in different sections of the expo such as in the guests and visitors lounge (majlis) and the photography exhibition.
The delegation was headed by its chairman Ali bin Khatim Al Mahashadi. He said that QSG’s participation in the expo was aimed at introducing the role of Qatar in maintaining falconry as an important heritage. Qatar was one of the countries which submitted the proposal leading to the inscription of falconry on UNESCO’s list of cultural intangible heritage of humanity. The Peninsula
