DOHA: The Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, yesterday issued a decree in which
H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani was named the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 2015 World Handball Championships to be held in Doha.
According to the decree issued yesterday, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), will be the Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee.
Ahmed Mohammed Al Shaabi, the President of Qatar Handball Federation (QHF), will be the Championship Executive Director, a post on QOC website said yesterday.
The organising committee has been finalised to streamline matters relating to the hosting of handball’s showpiece event in 2015.
Qatar was awarded the rights of hosting the 2015 World Men’s Handball Championship following stiff competition with three European nations - France, Norway and Poland - at a vote that took place during the last World Men’s Handball Championship in Sweden in 2011.
