Doha: Vodafone Qatar was recognised with the Best CSR Initiative Award at the third Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility and Awards organised by Dar Al Sharq under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, Governor, Qatar Central Bank (QCB), and Chairman, Sport & Social Contribution Fund (Da’am Fund).
The Award underlines Vodafone’s commitment to sustainability reporting which has become a strategic business value, serving as a differentiator in competitive industries and fostering investor confidence and trust.
This September, Vodafone Qatar launched its first GRI Sustainability Report, covering its activities during 2014 and following Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) principles of sustainability context, stakeholder inclusiveness and materiality analysis.
The report reflects Vodafone’s consideration of issues important to its stakeholders, including customers, employees, governments, regulators and communities where it operates, suppliers, lenders, bondholders and equity investment partners.
Dana Haidan, Head of CSR & Sustainability, Vodafone Qatar, named one of the CSR leaders in the country at the conference, said: “Sustainability report today is a necessity in the overall transparency and governance process of businesses and puts limelight on critical values businesses need to embrace for long-term success. It also brings forth the voice of every stakeholder, underlining their views vis-à-vis a company’s operational model and the internal and external impact.” Vodafone Qatar’s ambition is to enable sustainable living for all through operating ethically and responsibly, delivering positive change using our technology, and contribute to community development in Qatar and around the world. Its report will serve to encourage dialogues between its sustainability team and stakeholders.
