Doha: Ghanim Al-Muftah, often dubbed the Qatari “miracle child” for having overcome the physical limits imposed by rare Caudal Regression Syndrome which impaired the development of his lower spine, has performed Umrah.
Sheikh Maher Al-Meiqli, Imam of the Grand Mosque, was among the well wishers whom he met.
Social media published videos of the boy performing the rituals and his meeting with imams of the Grand Mosque.
“Allah answered my prayers and I was able to perform Umrah and circumambulate the Kaaba on my hands,” said the 15-year-old boy according to news reports.
Crippling disability has not deterred him doing things and going places. He set up his own charities; owns a sports club and has founded his own ice cream shop.
In a video shared on social media, Ghanim thanked everyone who helped him. “The facilitations I received were from Allah first and foremost; those who helped me to come to Makkah have my deepest appreciation and I will not forget them in my prayers,” he said.
He thanked Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, for helping him and his uncle Yousif Al-Marzouq his companion on Umrah. He also thanked Dr. Faisal Al-Sharif, director general of the commission and all his colleagues.
