Doha: Qatar’s Eljaish Sports Club and Al Rayyan Sports Club learned who they would be playing in the 15th Asian Handball Club League Championship, at the draw that was held at the Intercontinental Hotel.
Thirteen Asian clubs will be involved in the event and will be split into three groups.
Qatar’s representative, Eljaish Sports Club is pooled in group A along with Al Ahli (UAE), Kuwait Sports Club and Al Sadd of Lebanon.
Qatar’s second representative, Al Rayyan Sports Club is in group B alongside Al Jazeerah (UAE) , Al Noor (Saudi Arabia), Muscat of Oman.
Defending champions, Mudhar (Saudi Arabi), Thamen Al Hejaj (Iran), Al Arabi (Kuwait), Al Ahli (Bahrain) and Jiangsu of China are in Group C
Ahmed Al Shaabi, the President of Qatar Handball Association (QHA), Naser Al- Ali, the President of Eljaish Club, Dr Ahmed Aboleil, the Executive Director of Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and Jassim Diab, the Technical Manager, attended the draw ceremony.
The championship will be held in Doha from November 2 to 16.
The Asian Handball Club League Championship is the official competition for men’s handball clubs of Asia, and takes place every year.
In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Super Globe competition. QNA
