Doha, Qatar: As the last week of Ramadan approaches, families in Qatar are preparing for the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations. In Arabic and Muslim countries, sweets are an essential part of welcoming guests and expressing joy during Eid.
This year, Souq Waqif is hosting the first edition of the ‘Eid Fawala’ festival, showcasing various sweets, nuts, and light snacks traditionally served during Eid.
The 10-day festival features the finest sweets from 40 local and international companies, catering to the tastes of all guests.
“Al-Fawalah” is a traditional Qatari term referring to the assortment of sweets, savory items, and fruits offered to guests, and this heritage term is being revived through the naming of the exhibition: “Fawalat Al-Eid.”
The festival will continue until the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, marking the end of Ramadan, whether Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days. The exhibition is open daily from 7:30pm to 11:30pm.
The exhibition also offers a rich experience with live demonstrations, tasting sessions, and family-friendly activities.
Exhibitors from Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Iran, and Morocco expressed their happiness and gratitude for the event's organization.
They told The Peninsula that the event provides a great opportunity to display and introduce their products to a large crowd of visitors.
They further mentioned that the festival helps them expand their businesses and encourages small business owners.
The festival offers all kinds of local and regional sweets, dates, honey, and nuts, giving visitors a one-stop shop for all their Eid preparation needs.
