Indian lawmakers salary raised by 24 pct

New Delhi: Indian lawmakers' monthly salary has been increased by 24 percent to 1,24,000 Indian Rupees (nearly 1,449 U.S. dollars) from 1,00,000 Indian Rupees (nearly 1,168.50 dollars), the federal government announced on Monday.

The new salary will be paid with retrospective effect from April 1, 2023.

Besides, the lawmakers' daily allowance was raised from 2,000 Indian Rupees (nearly 23 U.S. dollars) to 2,500 Indan Rupees (nearly 29 U.S. dollars).

The pension for former lawmakers was also raised from 25,000 Indian Rupees (nearly 292 U.S. dollars) per month to 31,000 Indian Rupees (nearly 362 U.S. dollars) per month.
