As the holiday season is underway, hotels in Qatar witnessed a significant rise in reservations during Eid Al Fitr. Numerous hoteliers have announced splendid offers and facilities attracting tourists and residents to celebrate with friends and families.
Raffles Doha, a five-star luxury hotel located in Lusail City, has curated various offers for its visitors including a 20 percent discount on food and drinks across the restaurants, and extravagant celebratory Eid brunches over the long weekend, among others.
Speaking to The Peninsula, Endamia Decour, Cluster Director of Marketing and Communications at Raffles and Fairmont Doha, said: “We have seen a huge increase in bookings due to the Eid holiday and closer to the holiday we have witnessed a high demand in reservations too.”
Expounding the range of facilities for Eid visitors this year, Decour said: “The presence of Raffles and Fairmont, two globally renowned luxury hotel brands which are very distinct yet complementary and share one vision guarantees exceptional hospitality, world-class accommodations, and personalised services for the guests.”
“This association elevates the prestige of Katara Towers in the luxury hospitality market. Raffles is an exceptional all-suite hotel and Fairmont offers the Fairmont Gold which is a hotel within a hotel concept,” she added.
According to STR, a delivery data platform providing comprehensive solutions, the occupancy rate reached its peak on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
Kostas Nikolaidis, STR’s account executive for Middle East & Africa highlighted that the Ramadan period for hotels is always slower in terms of leisure activities as compared to Eid holidays adding that “many countries offer paid holidays for three to five days post-Ramadan, which is where we typically see spikes in occupancy.”
However, the 11-day holidays announced by Qatar enable travellers in the country to stay longer and celebrate. Qatar’s tourism has soared with people embarking on fun-filled leisure and staycation plans.
Travel experts in the country say that with superlative attractions offered, the sector is assertive about boosting the country’s economy, especially during Eid.
Speaking to The Peninsula, Ahmed Atta, Sales and Marketing Manager at Victoria Travels said that this year the agency is optimistic about impacting the country’s leisure industry with enhanced services and major events like the World Cup hosted last year.
He said, “Such a large increase in tourist numbers will contribute significantly to the growth and success of the tourism industry, with the added benefit of new hotels, amusement parks, and other tourist conveniences furthering the economic prosperity of the country.”
