Doha, Qatar: The Community College of Qatar’s (CCQ) female team won first place in the first edition of the Universities Padel Tournament 2023, taking home the gold medal, which concluded their rounds at the University of Doha for Science and Technology courts on May 18.

Over two days of exciting competitions, the CCQ’s female team presented a professional performance in competing with the six participating university teams representing several higher education institutions in the country.

The tournament final matches were attended by Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and President of Qatar University Sports Federation; and Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of the University of Doha for Science and Technology, who handed the first-place gold medal to the winning teams.

The tournament was endorsed by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) and the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF).

CCQ’s female team won against the teams of Lusail University and University of Doha for Science and Technology, with the participation of students Hanan Faraj Al-Sahouti, Atlal Ali Al-Abdelrahman, Hanan Walid Al-Ali, and Al-Anoud Saud Al-Hanzab. The male team included students Thani Ali Al-Hajri, Ahmed Younis Mohammad, Sanad Hani Al-Hadidi, and Ali Ahmed Al-Sayegh.

On the occasion, Ghaith Jaber Alajmi, Acting Activities & Alumni Department Manager at CCQ, stressed the importance of this victory for the CCQ’s female team, which gives all students the motivation to compete in various university sports and therefore attracting new players in the upcoming versions of this tournament, and other tournaments organized by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF).

Alajmi added that CCQ embraces many talents in various sports, and this is confirmed by the advanced results achieved by male and female students in the tournaments they participate in, the most recent of which was the Universities Football Tournament and the Universities Padel Tournament.

For his part, Abdulrahman Khalid, Supervisor of Student Activities at CCQ, expressed his happiness with CCQ winning first place, praising the great sports and technical performance of the male and female teams during the Universities Padel Tournament.

Khalid pointed out that despite being the first participation of the college team, the outstanding and professional performance of the payers qualifies them to reach to high ranking positions in the future, promising to maintain first place in the upcoming tournaments, and not to give up this distinguished and high level of sports and technical performance.
