Doha, Qatar: Porsche’s latest concept study, the Mission X hypercar, will be one of the highlights of this year’s Icons of Porsche festival, to be held at Dubai Design District on November 25-26, 2023.
The all-electric Mission X will be flanked by the three supercars which paved the way and have each contributed to the development of Porsche’s road and race cars over the decades, the all-wheel-drive 959, the V10-powered Carrera GT V10 and the hybrid 918 Spyder.
Mission X is a dramatic-looking two-seater reinterpretation of a hypercar, with Le Mans-style doors that open upwards to the front and is driven by a high-performance, efficient electric powertrain.
The vision of Mission X, should it go into production, is that it should be the fastest road-legal vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, have a power-to-weight ratio of roughly one PS per kilogram and achieve downforce in excess of those delivered by the current 911 GT3 RS. It should also offer significantly improved charging performance with its 900-volt system architecture that should charge roughly twice as quickly as Porsche’s current frontrunner, the Taycan Turbo S.
“Our Mission X showcase will show our latest hypercar concept alongside the trip of supercar cars from decades past and will be one of the absolute highlights of this year’s Icons of Porsche festival,” said Dr. Manfred Bräunl, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Middle East and Africa.
“This impressive display will illustrate that Porsche has always been at the forefront of performance technology, decade after decade, and this will continue into the future.”
Exciting display of regional premieres On the 75th Anniversary of the Porsche sportscar, the fully electric Vision 357 Speedster Concept will make its regional debut at Icons of Porsche. In design terms a homage to the 356, technologically the all-electric Porsche Vision 357 Speedster is based on the 718 GT4 e-Performance.
“On an occasion such as the 75th Anniversary of Porsche, it is a privilege to have this modern interpretation of Ferry Porsche’s original dream with us for Icons of Porsche,” said Bräunl.
Also on display during the two-day festival will be the Porsche 718 Spyder RS. It represents the ultimate iteration of Porsche’s lightweight, naturally aspirated, mid-engined 718 sportscar line, 30 years after the presentation of the first Boxster concept.
Another highlight of this year’s Icons of Porsche festival will be a celebration of the iconic Porsche 911, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
The 911 S/T will be on display, with other 911-themed celebrations to be revealed closer to the event.
