Strong wind, high seas and cold nights during weekend: QMD

Doha: On its weather report for the weekend, Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) forecast misty to foggy weather conditions at first accompanied with clouds and blowing dust at times. Cold nights is likely during the weekend. 

QMD, yesterday, announced a marine warning from Thursday night until Sunday due to strong wind and high sea waves. Due to this weather condition, QMD urged all citizens and residents to take extra precaution and avoid all marine activities during this period. 

The lowest and highest temperature during the weekend will vary between 15 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively. In a recent statement on Twitter, QMD said that during this weekend, "a noticeable drop in temperature is expected especially during the night and early morning."

The wind, on Friday, is expected to blow mainly northwesterly at 12-22 KT gusting to 30 KT at places inshore and 16-26 KT offshore gusting to 35 KT at times. While on Saturday, the wind will blow northwesterly at 10-20 KT gusting to 28 KT at places inshore and 18-28 KT offshore gusting to 35 KT at times offshore.

The sea heights on both days will vary between 2-4/5 ft inshore and 5-9 ft offshore rising to 12 ft at times. 

During the weekend, visibility will range between 4-8 kilometres/ 2-3 kilometres or less at places at times.
