Qatari driver Nasser Al Attiyah and his French co-driver Matthieu Baumel with their Volkswagen Polo GTi at the ceremonial start of the Cyprus Rally yesterday.
The Cyprus Rally is the fourth round of the Middle East Championship Rally (MERC), with Al Attiyah leading the drivers’ table with 120 points. The 17-time Middle East champion Al Attiyah, who has won Cyprus Rally a record seven times (three in the last four years), is the hot favourite once gain.
Today the rally will cover three special stages in the morning, all of which will be repeated in the afternoon in Aglantzia. Another six stages will take place tomorrow.
