Works begin to stage 11-day Katara Arabian Horse Festival

Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, has started preparing the stage for the 11-day Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF).

In a video posted on its social media accounts, it showed a preview of the main stage where seats have been set, and the horse paddock has likewise been placed, where the competitions will take place.

The second edition will run from February 2 to 12 at Katara Esplanade. This year will feature three competitions, including the first-ever Arabian Peninsula Horse Show, which will run from February 2 to 5; Arabian Horse Auction on February 7; and Title Show from February 9 to 12.

Katara has also announced the allocated prize money for the Arabian Peninsula Horse Show championships. 

For Yearling, the Gold prize is at QR75,000; Silver at QR45,000; and Bronze at QR30,000. Under the Junior category, Gold prize is at QR140,000; Silver at QR75,000; and Bronze at QR45,000. For Senior category, Gold prize at QR250,000; Silver at QR150,000, and Bronze at QR75,000. For the qualifying classes, prizes are divided into six placers, and prizes go as high as QR28,000.

Meanwhile, under the Title Show Championship, first prize which is Gold for the Senior category is at QR1m. The prizes range from QR100,000 to a million accordingly to classification of category and rankings.

Under the qualifying classes for the said title, prizes range from QR10,000 to QR100,000 based on the category and place. The total prize money for KIAHF is at QR17,083,500.

This year’s edition 11 countries will take part. The Arabian Peninsula Horse Show alone will have participation of 239 horses and Arabian Horse Auction will see 32 qualified purebred Arabian horses, and around 309 horses have also been registered under the Title Show.

Interested individuals who want to witness the competitions can purchase a ticket at KIAHF’s website. There are two types of tickets available, which are the day pass and the four-day package.
